H1B Status

Hi,

I am on H1B Status which is valid till 31 Jan 2004 and i have it stamped on my Passport. It can be extended for two and half years more. I could not appear for special registration between 30 to 40 days so INS has asked me to voluntary depart from USA. I would like to know will my H1 B visa be valid till jAn 2004 or it is cancelled.

Any authenticated reply will be highly appreciated.

From what I understand, voluntary departure is the kinder and gentler version of deportation. I think that you should consult with an immigration attorney about this issue because your H-1B visa may be the least of your concern now.

I hope that someone more knowledgable will be able to give you a better answer.
