I would be obliged if some one would help clear this issue for me. My case is like this:
* I came to US on H1 with company A.
* Changed from company A to Company B. Got a new H1 (valid till 04/2004 ; old one was till 06/2003) with new I94 ( this has new date 04/2004 , old I94 was till 06/2003).
* Company B split from its parent company and became a new company with a new name , say Company C. Lawyer for our company said that i didn't require a new h1.
* I am planning to travel to India this December.
My questions are:
1) Do i need to get visa for my new company stamped on my passport. I belive that it is not possible to do it at St. Louis unless the remaining period on the current visa is less that 6 months. Is that correct?. Would you advice me getting it stamped in India.?
2) When i asked my lawyer he said that new visa stamping is not required. At POE , i have to show authorities my new I979 and a letter explaining the company name change and everything would be fine. Should i get anything more with me? Do i need o show any other documents to immigration authorities?
