H1 processing - Premium or not?

My current 3 yr H1 expires on OCT 15th. I wanted to go for stamping in Canada, once I apply and get the extension approved. I know people tend to pick to goto Canada while the current visa is valid. Would that still be possible in my case with the time crunch I have? My lawyer suggests me to go for premium for which I have to pay for the expenses. Is this really needed or whould it be anyway safer to do it when I visit India in DEC'06. Thank you in advance for any feedback possible.

Unless you have a reason to hurry, no need to go with premium processing.
Although people successfully get stamp in Can/Mex, it is always safer to stamp in home country. The stance of DOS is one has to do stamp at consulate located in home country. It was mentioned in Foreign Affair Manual.
