H1-B receipt date help

Hi,
I filed for my H-1b at the very last minute.
My lawyer told me that it reached the INS CA Center on the afternoon of the 1st of October. The day in which they stopped accepting application at 5pm CA time.

As soon as I got the receipt no (wac no) from my lawyer I checked in the website, it has a receipt date of 6th October.


What does it mean? Did my application go through or not?

More precisely my q is will they issue a WAC receipt number if they did not accept applications/ or do they issue receipt number for all applications and on a later stage return the application based on quota issues?

Any reply wud be greatly appreciated.

I am in exact similar situation right now under the Masters quota.

I have receipt but they declared quota over a day before.

What happened in yr case ?

Appreciate yr response, as it would help get a clear picture.
