H1 and H4 guys going to Bahamas

Me and my wife (on H1 and H4 visa respectively) are planning to go to the Bahamas from December 27th through Dec 30th and would like to know about visa requirements. My questions are:

1. Where do I need to apply for the BAhamas visa? (I am in Detroit and is there their consulate in Detroit, MI)

2. How long does it take to get the passport stamped with that visa? I heard that there is a way to do it by mail. FYI, my wife is in India and would be back on Dec 9th. Do I have enough time if we need to do it by mail?

I just found out fro the embassy of bahamas that I have to apply in person and they have centers at DC, NYC, and miami only. They also said that it takes only 3 hours for the turist visa and if its a special case then they can do it even faster...
