Has anyone had any experience or heard of any experience with a J1 holder with pending J1 hardship waiver, but recently approved green card application? Is this a common thing? Can this be taken as a hardship waiver approval from USCIS or is this completely independent from the waiver? Please enlightn me. Thanks.
 
How did you get the GC?

I am really curious about this, because usually you wouldn't get the GC before you have a waiver. How did you get the GC?

I just applied for the waiver and I'd like to file the I-485 ASAP, but I didn't think that you can file before you have the waiver.

A friend got his GC conditionally approved, he didn't get the physical card before he requested an advisory opinion, cause it wasn't clear if he was subject or not.
