Going Home for Christmas & New TN

Does anyone see an issue with applying on my way home for Christmas, rather than waiting until I come back?

Now before I am inundated with posts informing me that I have leave the U.S. and reenter in order to apply. I know this and I have done that for each of my previous 4 TN's.

Typically I have applied for a new TN with 2 weeks remaining on my current TN so that I will be able to reenter and file an I-129 if for some unforeseen reason that my application would be declined. (not likely, but I believe in preparing for the worst, and hoping for the best).

This year Christmas falls in the midst of my usual 2 week buffer, so I am contemplating crossing over and applying for a new TN and then, presuming I am successful, crossing back into Canada, as opposed to just applying on my way back from Christmas vacation.

My concern is that this may provoke unwanted scrutiny by CBP. Are my concerns warranted?

Thanks,

Alta Al
