Getting SSn after GC approval for my family

Hi Cp gurus,
i landed in USA last sunday at JFk Ny.
how can i get SSn for my wife and daughter.do i need to go to SSN office and apply SSn for my wife and daughter by showing Immigrant visa stamp on their passport or SSn 's are directly come to my home without approaching SSN office.how about for me.do i need to ask them to take out that ' A' on mY SSn
