Enjoy the freedom...it is worth the wait.

Thank you everyone for your congratulations and kind wishes. :)

Mesbah, hard to say what prompted this. One or more of:

1) call to emergency line re: I-140
2) customer service enquiry re: I-485
3) biometrics & early walk-in
4) serendipity

Personally, I think a biometrics request is a good sign if FP were done earlier.

congrats stevphel.
I doubt biometric fingerprinting could be a reason coz in my case only my wife has received it, not me. And I am sure that they will not approve dependent before primary.
But hey, you enjoy ur freedom and best of luck for future

Hi, Guys:
Would you mind looking at my case, please? I am a physician by profession.

Recently, my I-485 got approved, recpt date 03/03. approval date 03/22/05
The CIS- California ctr has sent i-485 approval for me, my wife and my son.

The approval for my wife and my son says that that they need to make an appointment by infopass to local office for further processing of the GC.

But my I-485 approval notice says like this. "Your case has been approved. The immigrant card facility will mail the new alien registration card directly to applicant within 120 days. If you do not receive within 120 days, call customer service #." They are not asking me to make the appointment by infopass to local CIS office. To note, I had my finger printing for I-485 done just 10 days before my I-485 approval.

My questions are:
1. Is it possible for CIS to send GC to applicants without visiting the local office for photo and finger print and without stamping in the local office? If yes, usually how long it takes. If no, what should I do?

Curiously my message reads:

"On March 31, 2005, after approving your application, we ordered you a new card. Your card will be mailed to you as soon as it is ready." No reference to 120 days.

Did all three of you have digital photo, signature, and FP taken 10 days ago?

If not, then wife and son might have to fix one of these things if it was missed. Alternatively, they may be decided quality was not good enough and want to do them again.

From my understanding, the infopass appointment is usually to get passport stamped. If you have the full biometrics done they seem to be bypassing that step and sending you the GC directly.

Just some ideas

Yes
The local office might also send your wife and son to the ASC for biometrics.

>Is it a common thing or happened just with me?

It is now becoming common it seems (if you had the biometrics done).

>Which service ctr is yours?

Local office is Las Vegas, California/Western Service Center.

I have read posts where dependent was approved before primary, microdev. :)
