To apply for a GC for the spouse of a citizen, is I-130 the correct form?
The I-130 is the form that the US citizen files to petition for the non-citizen relative.
If it is, then what is the average processing time for the application and when will the spouse get his/her GC?
If the non-citizen spouse is in the US then they could file the I-485 (Application for Permanent Resident) together with the I-130. Please read the directions of the forms correctly because there is more documentation and forms needed to be sent with them. An I-131 can be filed for advance parole in case the applicant needs to leave the country while the GC application is pending, and an I-765 can be filed for authorization for employment while the GC is processing. There is no extra charge for these forms.
The average processing time from start to finish is about 4 months now, but each district office is different.
