Eligibility for citizenship

Hello.

I am little confused about eligibility for applying for citzenship. Can someone guide me on this ? Else, even if you point me to a web-site/link which has precise info, that will be great.

My status is as follows:

1. Rcvd Green Card in Mar 2002.
2. Was out of US from April 2002 to Sept 2002 (5 months)
3. Out of US from June 1 2002 to June 30 2002 (1 month)
4. Out of US from Oct 2003 to Nov 2003 (1.5 months)
5. Out of US from Feb 2004 to March 2004 (1.5 months)

I am also considering taking up a job in India for a short period of time (perhaps 1 to 2 yrs.) What will be the implications on my GC, how do I maintain it and what conditions do I need to meet to finally apply for US citizenship ??

I guess its rather complicated, but if I understand the basic requirements to apply for citizenship, that will clear the picture a lot. (or maybe make things more complicated!)

Assuming you dont leave the country over 6 months
and you live 30 months/60 , u can apply after Dec '06

If u leave over a year apply for reentry permit. It takes 1 year
to get it so apply very early.

If u leave for > 1 year u can apply 4 years + 9 months
after u return(assuming u had reentry)

And wat you have suggested is in line with the eligibility requirements.
