EAD & H1

Can one person be in both status.
my lawyer wants to apply for EAD also.
I prefer to be on H1 until I get married.
any problems,advantages/disadvantages on this.
can wife gets H4 if you are also on EAD

your H1 status will be valid even if you have EAD at the same time, unless you make use of EAD to work out side of your employer. If you leave US temporarily you can re-enter using your H1B visa (even if you have EAD).

ONLY if you use EAD for the primary GC petitioner.
So if you are using EAD for McDonalds(and still continue to
work for your primary employer)then your H1 is still valid.
This is my understanding.
Some people say if you use EAD even for a secondary employer
you are out of H1.. I dont know which is true..
