E2 for non-treaty countries?

A friend of a friend (who's from a Taiwan) is buying a restaurant in order to change his visa status to E2. My question is, if I were to have a partnership with him, would I also be able to get an E2 visa considering that I'm not from a treaty country??

Is there any way a person from a non-treaty country could ever get an E2 visa?

No you won't be able to get it. It is for a husband and wife/family. If you want to get it you need to invest a similar amount. If you are a partner, than only the one with the majority of amount invested has a chance to get the E2 visa.
