Does EAD invalidate H-1?

I applied for I-485 and EAD card in 10/99 . I got my EAD in 12/99. I also renewed my H-1 in 11/99. Does that mean my H-1 is now invalid because I have an EAD ? I have not stamped my passport with the renewed H-1.

To my understanding, your H1 is still valid as long as you don\'t use your EAD. "use EAD" means you go to your HR and file a new I-9 form to indicate that you\'ll now work on EAD, then this will invilidate your H1.

Mars, Thanks for the reply.
If I use my EAD at the Immigration office (say while coming back from India) will it invalidate my H-1 then?

thanks

Yes. If you showed your AP & EAD to the immigration officer when you came back from foreign country, your H1 is invalidated and you can only work on EAD from then.
If you want to keep your H1 status, you need to stamp your H1 visa and use it to enter instead of using AP.
