Deported, can a person re-apply

Hi everyone, it's been a long time. First I want to thank all the people that help me with my application, I got my green card already, thanks!!!!

My following question is about a friend of mine, he was in the Canadian border and just crosed over to the US, he was caught later on and deported to his country, Guatemala.

My question is, can he apply for a Visa, or some sort of forgiveness?

Was he given any document when he was deported? If so, would you happen to know what codes were on that document?
