Hello Friends,
I am US Citizen and want to marry an Indian in New Delhi.
I have recently heard about Direct Consular filing which
is much faster than the traditional way of getting PR for her.
How does this process work and how long does it take?
Where can I find more information about it?
Please help.

That was very informative.
Is there any downside of doing DCF?
Only thing that I can think of is that if Delhi Embassy
refuses to do DCF then you are stuck with the long
spousal visa process and can't do fiancee visa.
Any thing else?

downside = if they refuse you are stuck, plus they insist on a ceremonial wedding with a lot of photographs plus its not a matter of right that DCF is done for you (if you are not a resident ) plus there is talk of removing DCF altogether
 
maybe you could do this...

Just before u leave to india to get married, call Delhi and ask them if they do DCF. Regardless apply K1 and leave

If DCF is approved withdraw K1 immediatly ...

I was wondering if consular filing could be done for a parent too. The discussion I have seen is for spouses only, but instructions seem to apply to immediate relatives too. Any experience in this regard will be greatly appreciated.
