Confusion...after I-485 approval

I got my I-485 approved last week and received the petition today that has the following message.

The above application has been approved. Prior to receiving your permanent resident card you may be required to report for biometrics. Please do not take any action at this time. If you are required to report for this processing, you will receive another notice advising you of the date, time and location to appear.

If you have not received your permanent resident card or the above mentioned notice to appear for biometrics processing within 90 days, please call this office at the number listed below.

My question is:

I am traveling out of country in 2 weeks time and I currently ONLY have AP and EAD. I am assuming EAD AND AP expires upon 485 approval. The notice says DO NOT TAKE ANY ACTION. What should I do if I do not receive any further notice from USCIS before I travel? Can I set up INFOPASS appointment for I-551 stamping now? Does the card usually come in 1-2 weeks after approval?

Congratulations sekar73!

Assuming that you do not have to appear for FP you should get your card in maximum a week after the approval notice.

But my lawyer does not have answer for my question "What if do not receive anything further before I travel?"
 
Take an infopass, show them your travel itenary, and ask for passport stamping. You will be fine. Congratulations on your approval, and enjoy.

Alright, I took infopass appt and went to local LA office and spent 3 hours only to have them say that they cannot stamp I-551 because I am not travelling till 11/30/2006. They also mentioned that VSC has not received the finger printing that I completed on 6/28/2006 @ local FP office.

My questions are:

1. What happens when you do a FP? Does FP center send it or does service center requests it from FP center?
2. Do I receive another FP request? Can I go to FP center and inquire without an appointment?

I have got another INFOPASS appointment on 11/27/2006 to get my I-551 in case I don't receive the PR card by then.
 
Congratulations Buddy. You r case approved. You need to give FP again that's all.

I went to local FP center this morning and they did confirm that they sent the FP documents to FBI on the same day. Does USCIS requests it from FBI or does FBI sends it automatically ot USCIS? It's almost 5 months and USCIS still does not have it. Hopefully I receive the cards before I travel. Has anybody been in this situation before?
 
Received notice for CODE 2 biometrics yesterday scheduled for 11/28/2006. I went to ASC this morning and completed the process. Hopefully cards will come soon.

I have a question for U...how soon after your PD becoming current did you get the approval?

Hope74 - I live in SoCal and I went to Oxnard, CA for my biometrics

HaraKad - My PD became current and Unavailable several times. However, the last time was 11/1/2006 for my category and I got the approval on 11/2/2006.

Do you think that the code-2 FP notice came all by itself or you spoke to someone to trigger it.
Was there an LUD Change for FP notice sent.

MY case was approved on Jan12th, received notice on 18th but no changes on LUD there after.
Pls advice
