So long folks... I will miss this site.. Kinda got addicted to visiting the site atleast once a day.. May still do so for some time. GOOD LUCK to every body who is waiting.

US is all about luck, you dreamers !

It\'s all luck - this whole US thing is just luck. I have been working
since 1993, got multiple US patents, contributed 200K in taxes,
worked my butt out for US companies - it took 3 years and 3 months
(10 months in Canada as an expatriate) for me to get the passport
stamp (CP). Because of my trip to Canada, I couldn\'t liquidate my stocks
when it was at an all time high (because I couldn\'t buy a house) and
I have taken a huge loss, not only in my personal brokerage but also
company options.

Now, look at this one:
My relative, who started working for an Indian company that she
had worked before 2 years back in Delhi, got her L-1 in September
last year, joined the company for a 55K job, filed I-140 in January,
got I-140 in July, CP in December. In less than 10 months. Now,
that\'s luck ! Her husband got a free GC with no effort at all, whasoever.

Now, that\'s kind of like "morning shows the day". I am sure they will
be more successful in the US than many other suckers like me.

Montreal CP?

Quest,
Did you consular process in Montreal? Of the 3y3mo, what time was spent in NVC?
Thanks.

My timeline

- I140 rejected May 1999 (BS + 5 years "progressive" shit)

- I140 approved after B.A.L lawsuit: June 2000
- NVC time: 3 months
- Interview at Chennai Cons: Oct 2000

quest,

Iam sorry to hear what you went through.

It is choices you make in life determines the outcome, Why did you not apply for GC immidiately after you came here on H1b. So you basically took a chance, you waited around and wanted to test the market before you settle down.
