I am currently retrogressed. I 140 approved EB-3 with Nov 2005 PD. I got married after then and my wife is currently here on H4 status. Do I need to do any kind of paperwork/ filing for my wife before my pd becomes current to file 485 for me and my wife or come gameday I can go through the motions and just add my wife from 485 application stage? Any help/ advice will be appreciated.

You have to wait till you PD becomes current to file I-485.

Thanks but do I need to file anything prior to 485 filing for my wife since she is just now getting in the mix?

as long as your wife is on H-4 she should be OK (provided you maintain your H-1B throughout your GC process).
