Breaking news today from the INS:
All foreign nationals from countries covered under the Phase 1 and 2 registration deadlines will be allowed to register with the INS between January 27 and February 7, 2003. This is a major shift in policy by the INS, who had previously held that any foreign national who missed the registration deadline for his country would be in violation of his immigration status.
Also tomorrow, the INS will announce a 4thr ound of special registration, this one for foreign nationals from Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Kuwait and Jordan. All males, age 16 and over, who are from those countries and who will be in the U.S. BEYOND March 28, 2003 must register with their local INS office by March 28.
