Appeal of a denial

My I140 was denied in January, an appeal was filed in January as well, since then me and my wife have left the US, because of being out of status (unable to extend H1B as six years used). Last week a friend who is receiving our US mail got a letter requesting that we go in to get our finger prints done. We thought this was odd, so I dug out the case numbers (original I140 and the I290B appeal) and looked them up on the internet. It would appear that they have had some action on them since the denial was sent to us (denial Jan and update in March).

We are now wondering several things:
Does this mean that the original I140 is being processed again?
Does the fact that we have left the US have any bearing on the processing?
Is this normal and just mean the appeal is being looked at?
Should we arrange, somehow, to get our finger prints done (US embassy or fly to the US)?

Any responses would be appreciated.

Thanks.
