AP Renewal Question

Mu current AP expires in August. I have to travel in June and come back in July. I am going to apply for renewal in April before I travel. Will this be a problem if I travel with valid AP while AP renewal petition is pending?.

No.
Aren't you supposed to apply no earlier than 120 days in advance? April might be too early.

nj_skm, where did you get the 120days rule? By the way, my AP (renew) approval took almost 5 months at NSC.

The 120 day rule is applicable to EAD, I think, one can apply for AP upto 180 days earlier than the expiry date.

Could you travel with a valid AP and while you already applied for the renewal?

Yes you can travel but I am not sure about the fate of pending AP application.

One of my friend is waiting for his AP. He has visa stamp on his passport. When he went to local INS to check regarding his AP status, they told if he leaves to India without getting AP approved, his Green card will be cancelled.
