I am planning to land (for the first time) in Toronto from New York by
train. I will be accompanied by my wife and 2 kids and approximately
5-6 large suitecases. I need some information from anybody who landed
in Toronto from USA by Amtrack train.
-What is the procedure of immigration checking while I land by train.
Will I have to get off the train at the immigration check-post with my
family members and all belongings(I am concerned about my
kids, since I also will have to carry huge luggages) or will the
immigration officers(both countries or only Canadian?) get on the
train and check all papers.
-How the Canadian custom check the belongings?
-How long it takes for conducting landing process by immigration
officers; does the train waits for that long?
-What is the role of US immigration officers in this process(Do I have
to get off in US side also for US immigration formalities)?
-How much luggage Amtrack allows while travelling?
It will be better if anybody of this forum give his landing experience
