A question on FP

Mine were done in March 2006. I know they are valid for 15 months. A lady through Infopass around Xmas 2006 told me that sometimes they automatically renew fingerprints. I have not got any additional invitation for FP upon exparation.
Can they indeed be renewed or extended without retaken?

AFAIK, they don't renew after 15 months. If an immi official told you at infopass it *might* be true. No way of knowing. They're morons above par.
If you didn't get a renewal, it might only mean that your case is still not yet ready to be processed by the USCIS.
My FP, for example, were done 21 months back and I haven't yet received a notification for a new set. I put this down to the fact that my application is stuck.
