Help: wife lost passport/I-94
  I-485 applied in May. ND 13 July.
  what needs to be done?

Sorry to hear this.
I hope you should immediatley report to police, get police report number and apply for duplicate passport at indian consulate

Regards to I_94 . I heard somewhere in this discussion you can apply for duplicate I-94.

 can my wife get SSN without passport ( by showing a copy + interim EAD)

I think it should not be any problem

I hope it shouldn\'t affect your 485 processing, becuase it is lost and you obtained duplicate passport legally.

Regarding SSN I don\'t know how it works in this situation, but again I hope it should not cause any problem as you have copy of the passport , and make sure you have the details of Los t passport ( I mean if any police reprot number, reciept from Indian consulate that you applied for duplicate)

I see no problems in both the situation , however you need to make sure from lawyer.

thanks a lot.
 i talked my lawyer. he said it will not affect 485.
 the only thing is that I need to get new passport(duplicate)
 thanks again...
 but for 485 GC stamping he said a copy of I-94 should be OK...
 i am concerned about this...i am afraid that if i try to get new i-94 ( which is not necessary per lawyer)
 for travel( any unforseen one), it may cause my GC case to go to local SFO...
