12 month bar

Long time ago cetain J are subject to 1 year bar only and others (e.g if you extend your J to 5 year) are subject to 2 year bar.
 
J bar for J2 to J1

My wife is on J1 for her medical residency through ECFMG. She will be done this year and is applying for a waiver. I am also getting offer from her program on J1. Can i convert my status to J1 if she gets a waiver? or I will be stuck with the bar!
