Yes, its normal. It happened to me.

1.For LUD you need to register. Goto the following link and register: https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp 2. Yes, I used I-485 case number to check for the status.

Today ( 10/15/04) message changed to card ordered.

This is strange to have experiences like your's. I really don't think officer does any thing to immigration for either country. I had GC stamped and landed in Canada. Both Canada & US officers have both but no questions asked. In reality they really don't care. The only thing they care about is...

You can apply for return resident permit for max 2 yrs so that you can be physically absent from US without effecting your GC.

Your best bet is landing with the current passport and come back. Landing is a one time deal, simple and your are done.

Photo's for the PR card processing is taken from the landing documents. Only if the officer finds those photos are not exactly compliant to their requirements they take pictures again. For me, they didn't take the picture - but said they use the one on the landing documents.

Yep. I had US GC and landed yesterday at Toronto pearson and no questions asked. 3min all done ( excluding customs) .
