    it wont come automatically? but they give you letter at embassy saying you will get it if you check the box. if NOT then go apply. anyone can give idea on timeframe for receving GC upon arrive at POE?

    i get what you are saying. i know of some ppl who do that but they dont really stay out for more than 3 months. If you do that, it maybe ok i guess. what is this thing about staying 3 months on 1st entry. is that a must or just a good thing to do to minimise any trouble with GC. how does it work...

    isnt the stamp in your passport at POE valid for travel and substitutes for GC until you receive it? what are the implications if you travel out and return in 6 months after first visit to begin GC process.

    ok, so you arrive with immigrant visa stamp in passport. at poe you complete process to get green card and receive stamp in passport to use for travel until you receive actual card. Can i travel out of the US within 2 weeks and return after 3 months or so?

    Can someone enter the US for GC activation and stay for maybe 2 weeks then leave to deal with relocation issues? The process may take >6months. Would there be any issue when returning and how it affects citizenship?
