I am GC holder and i married a H1B holder( canadian citizen)!
do i have to notify INS? i dont have any immediate plans to include her in any of immigration processing - only after i become a US citizen!

hello a followup question.
lets say i get a DS-2019 form - Certificate of eligibility .......
and then I wait for few days and get my H-1 B papers alos and then use the H-1b papers to enter US to work.
Do i get stuck with the 2 yr - home country-...

make sure you wait for more than 5 years... 6, 7, 8 years before applying for citizenship.
they ask for details for the last 5 years before applying for citizenship.
pls get as much info as the other members have suggested but also apply later...

If j1 comes back first (i.s. DS-2019), can i choose to wait to receive h1b and then start residency with h1b...

you need to able to produce GC anytime the INS wants it - otherwise you will be deported immediately - I pray to god that your country is not canada aor mexico -...
why cant she travel to US -if u apply for green card.
as a canadian citizen whe can always travel to US. if she needs to work untill she gets her PR - she can apply for h1 visa
to the best of my knowledge - usually one is eligible for canadian citizenship after fulfilling the residnecy requirments for canada - that is u should be canadian permanent resident now- so you are saying you somehow managed to fulfill both US and canadian permanent residency requirements ...
minor problem arises if u loose ur greencard
make sure u have a photocopy and number of greencard in a safe place.
usually it goes like this- in US id does not make any difference eventhough u lose ur greencard
but if u loose it abroad - then u dont have any secondary proof that u r a...

no there is no immediate time period by which you have to join- as long as its reasonable.
