I think that asylees can renew our NP. I went to my local INS to ask them about that. Twice I was told by two different IO that I can renew my NP because I am no longer an asylee but rather a GC holder. They said" if my country assumes that I remain eligible to have my NP then I should get it."

How does Chinese government know that you had applied for asylum? If you did not tell them they won't know. I am just conjecturing.

No, I am an aslyee. My Lawyer believes that I will be eligible for citizenship in 2008. I don't know anything about naturalization.

Hi Guys, Last thursday I was at the USCIS local to inquiry about me renewing my passport. I met an old officier who told that if my country feels that I am eligible to obtain I should/can apply. He say that I should apply for my NP and it won't be any problem. It is also what my lawyer believes.

I questioned my lawyer about me renewing my NP she said it is not good idea not to renew it. Last tuesday , I went to the Immigration to ask about the same thing. A lady there told me I can use it

Asylee2000, yes you can be approved. My message never changed january 9 when I sent my RFI. However, I noticed some luds and on march 01 I was approved. Everything is possible nowadays with the USCIS.Good luck
