Concerned4us,
Thanks for the detailed reply. Medical insurance is a issue, I know that. We are still weighing our options and not just from tax purpose. By no means am I planning to bring them here for tax benefit. That would be the stupidest move for anyone. We just want to be together as a...
Thanks for the honest reply. They have been here 5 times and stayed 6 months on each visit. They never overstayed or extended. Having said that, I am contemplating applying for GC for them, either through consular processing or after they come here. They are both 75+, and have never worked here...
I want to file GC for my parents. My Father's name is mis-spelled in my Birth certificate. You know how it is trying to correct this now. What alternatives do I have ? they had 10 year multiple entry B1/B2 visa which just expired.
My parent had B1/B2 visa valid for 10 years, which expired recently. I want to apply for another B1/B2 visa. The DS-160 form is asking for SSN/ITIN number. They have ITIN which I used for tax purpose to claim them as dependent. Will this be an issue? Any experiences?
Thanks in advance...
The IO who interviewed me did not even look at the passport, let alone check the stamps. I am sure they have other ways to do it and not search matching in/out stamps in the passport.
I want to apply for another term of B1/B2 visa for my parent. They had a 10 year multiple entry visa that expired in Jan 2010. They have never overstayed or extended any stay. Do they need to go to Chennai to get the visa or can they get it thorugh mail?

They actually made it sound like it is all about $$. While $175 is steep, the real issue is actually about the delays, arbitrary procedures, confusion, lack of info AND $$. It would be interesting to read some of the comments on this rediff article....
The MHA is cash strapped and could use more innovative ideas to make up the defecit:
They could introduce a fee for phone inquiries. $50 to get to a rep to answer your questions about the pending OCI or visa. The could provide precise info on the status like "check after 30 days", "wait for...
I am in exactly the same situation. I got OCI for my son however. I am not sure if his visitor visa is still valid. I wrote to NYCGI, but they responded back with an irrelevent answer. I let it slide as the visa is on an expired US passport and the OCI is on a new passport.
I am landing in Bangalore first week of June. Have Cancelled passport, but no SC. Will see what happens. I think I will get this SC after I come back and when the dust settles.
