Your Application/Petition is awaiting Assignment to an Officer

Security Check /name Check

I have Notice date of my I-485 is Sep. 2005 and NSC is processing April 2006 cases.

I called the 1-800 number because my Notice date is out of processing date.

Here is what I got today in mail.

"Your application/petition is awaiting assignment to an officer. You will be notified when a decision has been made or if additional information is needed. If you have not been contacted within 90 days please call the number provided below............"


Do you guys think that my name check is done or this is just standard message for all the guys who have name check pendding?


Is there a different standard message for people who have name check pendding.

It doesn't mean anything. Just a standard copy&paste to get you off their back. Good news is, it does not necessarily mean that you've officially stuck in name check. To find out if you're, try to call them again (and again) or make an InfoPass appointment or seek help from your congressman.
 
I called today and was able to get hold of a person at NSC. He told me that my application is going through the SECURITY CHECK and this is done by an out side agency. I can not provied you with any more informations.

Am I stuck in name check or SECURITY CHECK is different then name check?

Did anyone got the same response?

ajoo: my friend, don`t panic. All old cases (99,00,01...) are in this boat. Some day, soon, we`re going to crash.
 
That "outside agency" refers to the FBI

The "outside agency" NSC referred to is the FBI, Name Check is part of the security checks, so I would say let's sit back and wait.

I am keeping my finger crossed. Hope that some day...............we will get this magic e-mail and get over with this.
 
Sounds like you've officially become stuck in the name check black hole... A friend of mine replied to his RFE almost on the same day as yours. He didn't hear anything back for about a month. So he asked his lawyer to check and it turned out that his name check was pending... Hopefully, you guys can get cleared soon.
