working on L1 visa after extension when H1 has been approved

Hi,

I am facing a tricky situation which is following:

1. I am working for employer A since June 2004 on L1B VISA. My I-94 was about to expire on 15-10-2006.
2. I applied for H1B VISA with employer B in June2006.
3. I also applied for L1B extension with employer A in August 2006.
4. My H1 was approved on AUG-2006
5. My L1 Extension was approved on 03-OCT-2006.
6. I am still with employer A as of today.

Following are my questions:-

1. What is my current status - L1 or H1?
2. Can I join employer B without any issues? OR they will have to file for COS from L1 to H1 again?

Please advise how should I proceed in this.

I found out from attorney that my current status is L1 and I can work for company B only if i enter Us again with H1 stamping

Questions on L1-h1

I'm also in similar situation. Could you pls help me with the following.

Background:

1. I work for Company A on L1B in US from past three and half year and my
L1B & I-94 is good through Dec'07.

2. Company B has applied and recd H1 with Change of status from L1B to H1 on
oct Ist 2006.

3. Meanwhile my current employer (Company A) also has plans of sending me
outside US for about a week time on
business trip .

Questions:


1. Can I travel outside US using my L1 visa(Company A) as I have not changed
my job to Company B (H1)? or is it too late to travel out side?. Will there
be any problem at the portof entry when I enter US again on L1 Visa (Company
A)..

2. If I travel outside US and the H1 is approved while I am outside can I
enter US on my existing L1 visa?

3. Can I work for current employer until Dec 06 or Jan 07 on my L1 visa even
after H1 approval?

4. Does Co B has any options to legally inform USCIS about my joining date
with them to be Dec 06 of Jan 07? Or is that I must and should work for
Company B from Oct onwards?


5. What if I don't want H1 any more and happy to continue with current
employer on L1? Does it affect future H1 application?
