Working during L1-H1 transfer

Hi,
I am working for Company A on a L1. My wife and kid are here in US on a L2. Another company B has promised me a H1B and a H4 for my family and are ready to start processing papers. But H1B quota is over and they want me to start really soon. They mentioned that they will file for a H1 (to be filed right now and will get approved only in Oct 06).

The question that I have is:

1) Will I (and my family) have status to live in the US after I leave current company A since my H1B is filed (but not approved yet) till Oct?
2) Can I work in company B (or anywhere for that matter) till then?
3) If I do stay in US till Oct and work for company B, can I get paid by company B leagally?
3) Will I face any problem in H1B visa interview if I stayed in country during the L1-H1 transition?

1) as long as your petition is pending, you should be considered in "authorized stay".
2) No
3) you can not work for B til Oct.
4), Theoretically, no.

Safest option is staying with L1 company and move to B in Oct.
