wife\'s visa status after getting EAD

I have H-1B visa and it will expire soon, so I need to get the EAD.
As far as I know, my visa will be invalidated as soon as I get the EAD.
My wife\'s visa is H-4, which is dependent on my visa.
Should my wife get the EAD also? or can she still stay with the H-4
visa?

hey since you guys have applied for 485 status of adjustment you and your wife would never be out of status. if your wife wants to work then she needs ead. she would be a legal immigrant even if your visa expire.
 
As far as I know, EAD is nothing to do with being in status. It\'s only a work permit

that would allow you to work. Remember, once you file for 485 you are always in status. There is no question of going out of status as long as your 485 is pending.
 
H4 not required if already applied for I-485 for wife

As long as your wife has also been included in your I-485, she is in status and only needs EAD if she wants to work. She however needs parole for travel.
