which state has fastest processing time?

Y R

Except NY, CA, FL, IL where most of the immigrants live , all other states have reasonable processing time.

The longest processing time is in NY.

Just leave NY & find somewhere else......

good luck

First of all, bear in mind that processing time for district offices do change with time. For the latest processing times, go to

To answer your question: From what I was told, you may be asked to provide documents such as lease agreements, utility bills, proof of mortgage, etc... There is nothing wrong with moving to a different state to file your naturalization application, as long as you meet all the residency requirements. However, you need to continue residing in that state after filing your application or you would be required to notify BCIS of the change of address. There are some exceptions, e.g. if you are going to school in a different state from where your permanent address is.

Do not lie to BCIS under any circumstance. They could cause a lot of inconvenience for you if they even suspect that something is not right. There are ways to find out where you reside, such as employment, IRS tax returns, etc... If they discover fraud in your application, then naturalizing will the least of your concern as you might face deportation.

seems some district in CA do have faster processing time... like San Jose..
also Miami, 210-240 days, not bad

hi all

I need your help regarding this matter, please response everyone.

On N-400, one question was "Have you ever been arrested, cited or detained by law enforcement officer for any reason?"

How many forum members mention the "Minor Traffic Ticket" such as REd light cross, speeding ticket, no right turn" ?

please response everyone in this forum.

thank you for your response ,

I faced this question during my GC processing. IIO simply clarified it as "have you ever been thrown into jail?"

Whether or not to include minor traffic violations in the N-400 has been somewhat unclear to many people. To make matters more confusing, different lawyers will tell you different things. However, bear in mind that the applicant is still ultimately responsible for what is written in the application, regardless of what the immigration attorney said. My personal opinion is that it would not hurt to disclose that in the application.

JoeF

JoeF,

Is there any reason for your not so positive views on
U.S.P.S (not dependable), INS (don't believe any thing what they
say).
I am sure INS customer relations people are not out to mislead the
applicants on purpose. Any one could commit the mistakes and INS
is not an exception.

Moreover as we grow up we notice that there are not Black and White
answers for almost any question. There are only different shades of gray.
Even US Supreme court has proven that.

I don't think we can go and consult the lawyers for every thing. It is
expensive and time consuming. Moreover you don't get the same
answer from 2 different lawyers. There is something called spirit of
the law rather than letter of the law.

So my request is: if there is some info we can add, let us add.
Let us not try to bias people with our prejudice. This board will
be more useful if we share our experiences but not opinions

Thanks

JoeF,

It is always good to discuss with you. (Or is it arguing:? :)
In every pessimism there is wisdom. But sterile wisdom,
In every optimism there is madness. Creative madness.
Have you read the book I am OK, you are OK?
About P,A,C. Just because we are afraid of the darkness
when we were kids, we should not continue so.

Now coming to the point. Let us take Lawyers: As per your
suggestion we need to consult lawyers for almost every thing
(else educate. But God knows what it meas. For example
read the entire tax code for filing 1040;-).

Then one lawyer is not OK, We need to have second opinion.
Have you ever heard "Never got to see with 2 compasses. Take one
or take three". That brings the majority logic. Do you know the
famous story of having multiple control systems for Shuttle's
control system and what happened in one of the flights (I think
it is the first).

Believe, there is no way to know anything absolutely. Hindu
philosophy knows that you can't achieve it. So it is only "what is
good enough in the present circumstances".

For example a matter as simple as "where to send the n400"
has resulted in 3 answers from me form the BCIS web sites.
For example the current Guide to naturalization still calls it INS.

So what do you do? Do you drive to vermont and hand them over
in person? Or take the best guess and have some inbuilt safety net
(take you best guess, send by express mail. If it does not reach them, at least
it comes back). Or talk to some one who has sent to some address and
it has been accepted. I think the forum is mainly for such things
(sharing experiences).

How many cases are overturned in higher courts? what is the reason?
So don't think the lawyers are super human. They are humans like
you and me. No 2 lawyers are same. Some charge $700 an hour
and others do pro bano. Then we have to spend time to find
the best lawyer available. Is there an end to this?

Thanks
