Which one is better/faster?? Applying for EAD online or thru paper application?

Could anybody tell me which path is better/faster/safer, applying for EAD online or using the conventional paper mail method ?

I have to renew my EAD, current one expires in about 2 months...

From my limited experience,
When I used on line, I was asked to do biometeric
When you send paper application, I do not think you will be asked for biometeric.

Online is always better because you instantly receive the receipt with case # and can send mailing docs to address mentioned on receipt.
