When does Alien# (A#) get generated?

One of my friend is going to file I-485 for his parents(Family Based). There is a field where one needs to enter the Alien#.
He is not sure what to fill the Alien# for his parents on I-485 form.

The approved I-130 he has, does not specify the A#.

My question is:
1>. When is the Alien# generated? is it after u file I-485 or I-130 or any application with BCIS?

2>. Should or can one fill blank A# if you do not know A#?

3>. How else to get the Alien#?

Please suggest, any ideas.

don't bother

It's generated when you file I-485 and BCIS receives your I-485 and issue you Receipt notice.

So don't bother .

A# is generated after you file 485, so you can leave that field empty.
