In the past I heard that technically speaking one can apply for citizenship in less than five years. That said, if I got my greencard on November 11th, 2006 when can I apply for citizenship?
Since you got your GC through employment you will be eligible to apply 90 days before you complete 5 years as a permanent resident (provided you have met the continuous residency requirements). That would be around August 13, 2011 but I would make sure I add a week or two of buffer before applying.
The eligibility period is 3 years if you happen to be married to a USC.
