What Really Happens at Biometrics

when you walk up to the door there is a thick heavy black Curtain blocking any light or visability from the "outside world"

As soon as you walk through the curtain and door you enter a cold room lit only by infrared Red lighting. You notice only gentlemen in black suits and dark sunglasses, then when you are getting ready to scan the room again & a very abbrasive big individual suddenly comes up to you and throws a blind fold over your eyes & bag over your head, escorting you into a cold long tunnel.

As you walk down this tunnel you hear faint echos of screaming and heavy breathing, the air is cold, damp and earie. As you approach the end of the tunnel you hear this sudden loud CLANG! of a steal door, you notice all the faint screaming that you heard before has stoppd and turned into a sputtering whimper. Next thing you know you are tossed into a cold steal chair strapped down from your neck to your ankles.

Your heart races, then you hear mumbled whispers and another voice enters the room. the sound of metal clanging startles you more as they GRAB your hand & inspect your fingers with meticulous grunts of approval ,taking your fingers one by one & placing them in what feels like warm body fluid. Your hands are placed on a cold surface with this warm fluid ooozing in between your fingers and then, your blindfold is removed & suddenly there is a BRIGHT Blinding Flash of light! Next thing you know ..you wake up (if your fortunate enough in Wyoming) or Delaware  lost & confused with wet drawers not knowing your name.

Disclaimer: majority of cases go smoothly without fear or worry
The above is only hearsay none of the events could be proven, however the numerous missing persons out of ASC ending up in Delaware with amnesthia have boggled the public mind for years
, :p

Wyoming eh? That is great!!

I was planning a trip to Yellowstone for August, now I don't have to pay for airfare to get there. ;)

Addie, cut these guys some slack. Many of them come from countries where dealing with government institutions can be a scary thing, hence the rampant paranoia about every little detail.

I come from Western Europe, but dealing with the Government there could be frustrating (not scary yet though).

Wyoming? Why that? Give me Hawaii and we have a deal! ;)

Well to really play on the fears of others I could have said Utah
or God forbid Delaware   ,
No one knows where Delaware is or fact if Delaware truly exists  kind of like Area 51 or "The OC" hmm?

I had my bio done at the Fairfax location on Pico Blvd.
I missed my appointment but queued up early a few days later and they took me in - no questions asked.

Actually on my FP notice, it's clearly stated that if I miss the appointment on 7/25 I can go any Wednesday till October. After that they will consider my application abandoned.

IN ALL SERIOUSNESS what happens at the biometrics appt? R u asked any questions about taxes filed or anything else? I would appreciate if any of you can share experiences especially in Newark or the east coast. Thanks and god bless.

ps: forget going for appt and landing up in some other states...read any of the CIA blogs and u will realize that if u r the wrong guy u could end up in one of the outsourced torture countries like romania. no daal-roti there, only whips...

Sorry just a little fun.. they really don't ask any questions other than you rname adress, & receipt number on the form you fill out when you walk in.

Our Biometrics FP appt. was yesterday morning, Our schedueld Appt. was for 8:00am we were in and out in 10 minutes.

Arrive Early before the ASC office opens as there are many people that have same Appt. time , the line fills in fast.

Bring the following:

1)Your original ASC appt. notice
2) Photo ID (IF Photo ID passport has different last name than your ASC notice , bring Marriage license, If your ID and Appt. notice name are not same they will turn you away unless you have Marriage license)
3) Bring your original Receipt notice for your I-485
Be sure your fingers/ hands are not dry or cracked, If you have dry hands put lotion on the nigt before so when you arrive they will take good prints
We arrived at 7:40. thank goodness we arrived Early because there were already 3 people waiting. The line really got long there more than 10 people in line before the ASC opened at 8:00am.

Once ASC opened you do intial pre-screen check in with a security guard, they ask for your Appt. letter & Photo ID.

Please note : If you filed your I-485 with your new married name and your Govt. ID has your given name or maiden name you will be asked to show the marriage liscense. 2 people were turned away this morning because the name on their ASC FP notice was different than their Passport. Bring your marriage liscense. Luckily for us we went to the Japanese Consulate in Los Angeles yesterday morning and had them make a name change to her passport to reflect her new married name. Once we showed the name change on her passport the ASC office did not need the marriage lsicense.

Moving on' after being pre-screened we were motioned over to the reception desk where they check ID and Appt. Notice AGAIN, and then they look at your hands to see if there are any cuts or scrapes and to be sure that you will take good prints, My wife has dry hands and very thin fingers the lady at reception inspected her hands then said "your hands are really dry it may be difficult to get good prints, but we will try"

We were given a number card (#1 ) They gave her a form to fill out, with name, address A# and Receipt number, then they called her number and she was seen by the Finger print dude, he had a hard time taking her prints but finally was able to get good prints, then they took her photo. After that a USCIS officer came over to verify & inspect the prints/ photo before the process was complete.

Once the USCIS officer verified everything looked good we were asked to fill out a customer survey, they stamped her ASC Appt notice and sent us on our way.

We were in & Out in 12 minutes!

Now we wait for the interview Appt. hopefully we dont get stuck in a dreaded FBI Name check hold.
