I really wish that everyone in this forum would take the time to spell out the meaning of these abbreviations. Remember that everyone that come across this website probably in the beginning has problem understanding the meaning of your posts, using all these abbreviations.
We don\'t want to treat people in the same way that we are treated, do we? Then we would be no better than those people that are making our life miserable, just because they arrived before we did... think about that.

Hi Cortex,

Thanks for taking the time (and trouble) writing
up this message. I will upload it to the CSC
tracking webpage shortly (someone please remind
me if I forget).

Hi Corex

It was an excellent write up. Why don\'t you ask to CIBA to post it
some common place and make an announcement to general public, so that people are aware of Immigration jargons and ins\'s terminologies.

Good work ...

This used to not be possible, but a few years ago the INS changed
their procedures and you can now continue to use your H1B for
travelling while your AOS application is pending. As long as you
haven\'t switched to your EAD you should be fine reentering without AP.
Of course, as always, consult with a lawyer before making a decision.
And having AP just in case that the immigration officer gives you
problems might not hurt either. Also, my lawyer told me that it would
not be advisable to travel outside of the United States in between the
time when I filed the I485 and before receiving the receipt; not quite
sure why that is the case.
