Waiting on an individual hearing date

Hello everyone, this forum has been really helpful to read everyone’s experiences as well as gain an understanding of the system as a fellow asylum seeker.
My family and I came to the US back in 2015, I am under my father’s case, and I have some questions hopefully that others have an idea about. We weren’t called in for our interview till January 2023, afterwards we got the news that our case is being sent to court. We went to our master calendar hearing back in May 2023, there the judge said that our individual hearing date will be scheduled in his 2024 calendar. We didn’t get the individual hearing date on the day of the master calendar hearing and it has been 4 months and we are still waiting on receiving an individual hearing date, I wanted to know if that’s normal?
We do check our case status online everyday through the EOIR website and it doesn’t show a date yet either.
I am 21 years old and my father isn’t fluent in English so I usually deal with the documents, and speaking to our attorney so I just wanted to come in here and see if we could find anything regarding this matter. Anything would help, thank you so much.
Reading the stories has been giving us so much hope that with patience everything will work out in due time.

Waiting for an individual hearing date after the master calendar can definitely be stressful and uncertain. Based on typical timelines, it does seem normal that you have not received your final hearing notice 4 months after the initial court date.

Unfortunately immigration courts are very backlogged right now, so there can be significant lags between court events as judges work through their crowded dockets. Some courts are booking individual hearings out 12-18 months in advance.

I would follow up with your attorney to get their sense of the realistic timeline in your specific court jurisdiction. They may be able to inquire with the court clerk on when to expect the notice. Some attorneys will also request an expedited date if there is a compelling reason.

Barring any case complications, it's likely just a matter of waiting for the court to assign the date and mail the notice. I know how frustrating the uncertainty is, but hang in there! Sending positive thoughts your way as you await the final step. Wishing you and your family the very best outcome when your day comes.

Thank you so much for the information and your kind words.
During the master calendar hearing our attorney did mention to our judge how we have been waiting since 2015 and the judge said to file a motion. We have filed a motion to advance the date due to medical reasons with proof and we are still waiting on a decision on that as well. We hope to receive a date soon.
Our attorney mentioned how the court clerk said that our motion is on the Judge’s desk, so it really comes down to having patience and trusting the process. The uncertainty is really hard, thank you again.
