Waiting before applying for citizenship

Got my passport stamped this morning after I485 approval. The duty officer who stamped the passport pointed out that i can apply for citizenship after 5 years from priority date, not approval or passport stamp date.

While i am trying to confirm this, has anybody else heard the same or have any input?
 
No, date you become PR is the valid date

The date you become PR is the I-485 approval date and this is that date counted for applying for citizenship.
