As per http://travel.state.gov/hlop.html
"If you changed employers and received a new I-797, Notice of Action,
petition approval from the Department of Homeland Security (formerly
Immigration and Naturalization Service), you may reenter the U.S. with
a valid visa in the appropriate category and the valid I-797 from your
new employer, even though the visa is annotated to reflect your former
employer. The Visa Office will not revalidate a visa to reflect a
change of employer unless the visa will expire in sixty days or less."

I have a passport with my old employers visa stamp expiring in oct
2003. I also have a I-797 of my new employer but has not revalidated
the visa stamp on passport.

As per site INS will not revalidate a visa to reflect a change of
employer unless the visa will expire in sixty days or less. I have
visit India, what do I do ?? Please advise ??

You have 2 options.
1) you can get stamped in india.
2) Travel with the old visa and get it stamped later in usa.

Either way is ok.
if you going by 2, then carry the following documents
1)old & new H1b ,
2)offer letter for the new company
3)vacation approval letter from your company/client (if you have any)
4)Recent Pay Slips
5) W2 /tax statements (if any)

You are allowed to use the existing visa stamp for your travel
in and out of US. But make sure to carry the current employer's
letter of employment, Notice of approval(s), pay stubs etc. to show at the POE.
