Visa question - Do I need a US visa on my passport?? Please HELP

I have applied for my Green Card through EB3 (Consular Processing). Currently work in the US for the sponsoring company on H1B. I also have Canadian permanent residency.

I am planning on going overseas to India for a visit.

Can I leave to India and back from Canada and return to US through the land boarder using my H1b (I-797 form & I-94)?

Though I have a valid H1b my passport visa issued by the US consulate has expired.

My understanding is that since I have Canadian PR I should be able to fly from Canada and return back to Canada and back to US by land.

Am I correct here? Am I allowed to do this?

What makes you believe you can re-enter on the existing I-94 after a lengthy trip? Otherwise, I do not see any problems with your plan.
