Currently, when the immigrants receive a Request for Evidence (RFE), they are given 12 weeks to response and otherwise the cases are considered abandoned and denied. The USCIS plans to remove the 12-week timeframe so that the agency can determine the response timelimit flexibly depending on the specific situation. This regualtion was submitted to the OMB for its review and it was cleared yesterday, November 12, 2004, by the OMB. Once this new rule is implemented, people should pay extra attention to the RFE response time limit in each case so that they do not miss the time limit in his/her case.

It's a +ve step from USCIS as many have posted in past that sometime it take ages to get letter from USCIS about RFE.
