USC sponsoring for gc for spouse already in the country

My USC son’s wife is here on her 10 yr multiple entry visa.
1)Can my son sponsor her while she is here or should she go out of the country?
2) If yes, can she travel outside the country while her GC application is processing?
3) Does he have to file any other document for travel, along with the gc application?
