US Job interview: tourist visa? senior members plz advise

Dear Members:

My husband was on F1 in US (OPT expired May31, 2003). We moved to Canada as Permanent Residents in February 2003. He is expecting an interview invitation from Virginia,US in about 10 days time. What would be the best visa to apply for?? (Tourist or some other one?) Should he tell the consulate about the interview invitation or just say that he wants to visit friends (and we do have some). How long would it take for the visa? Is there any way to expedite it?

Would be very grateful for your advice(s). Has anyone ever had a similar situation; would appreciate if you could share your experiene.

Should we tell them about the job interview (since tourist visa is a nonimmigrant visa....) or should the stated purpose be "visiting friends"????
