We successfully applied for my Father-in-law thru TTS,Chennai.
He is above 60 yrs so he could apply for for Visa by drop box without a personal interview . The below documents are required:
>
>As he has a sponsper u have to submit :
>
>a) An affidavit of support form I-134 from sponser and also Bank statements ,tax forms and employment letter.
>
>b) Passport copy- all pages, permanent resident card or Naturalization certificate.If the person is a relative a copy of Relative's Indian passport if possible.
>
>c) Documents to show the sponsper's legal status in the U.S
>
>Further Applicant has to submit the following:
>
>1. His passport in original for applying for a Visa
>
>2.Has to complete and sign Visa application form DS-156 for all applicants printed back to back ( front & rear side ) on a single sheet
>
>3. Two Full face photograph two inches square with the head centered in the frame in color or B&W
>
>4. Two separate demand drafts drawn in the favor of the American Consulate General payable at chennai for "Visa application fees Rs 4600 /- and Visa issuance fees Rs. 2300 /- from a Nationalised bank .
>
>5.) T.T services charges for Rs 400 /- bys D.D drawn in favor of T.T services and payable at chennai.

They said he will get the visa in 14 days, but the stamped visa was received by courier in 5 days.
