Travelling on AP when valid H1 from another company

Hi All,
My H1 is valid till March 18th 2003. But I no longer work for the H1 sponsoring co. My AOS is pending with the INS. Interview done on Dec. 10th 2002 still waiting for approval. There is a travel plan (business related) first week of february. I have to get an AP from the INS.
Can I travel if I get my AP? Is it safe.
At the POE should I show my AP or H1B. Please confirm...

AP is safer.. It all depends on whether you are exercising AC21 and INS knows about it. Talk to your attorney..
